Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or rotating based on unit needs); variable weekend coverage; 16-week assignment; staffing ratios goal 1:4 (may be 1:5)

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity Surgical Oncology PCU caring for both progressive care and medical-surgical patients on a busy surgical floor
• Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics cases
• Procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, insulin drips, heparin drips, and chest tube care
• Epic EMR system; GE telemetry monitoring with focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Floating may be required to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
• Valid Compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of application
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Preferred Certification: ONS Chemotherapy
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Additional Information:

• Orientation: 72 hours provided
• One pre-approved time off period available per contract
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; if accepting a rotating contract, you may work days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs
• Ohio fingerprinting required and must be completed urgently upon contract signing; strict compliance deadline applies
• Former facility employees eligible after 6 months away; current employees ineligible
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
